Title of the Project : The Role Of Computerizes Reservation System For Tourism Services
- OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
- COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN TOURISM
- COMPUTER RESERVATION SYSTEMS (CRS)
- INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN TOURISM
- CRS/ GDS AS BACKBONE OF THE ELECTRONIC
A computer reservations system or central reservation system (CRS) is a computerized system used to store and retrieve information and conduct transactions related to air travel. Originally designed and operated by airlines, CRSes were later extended for the use of travel agencies. Major CRS operations that book and sell tickets for multiple airlines are known as global distribution systems (GDS). Airlines have divested most of their direct holdings to dedicated GDS companies, who make their systems accessible to consumers through Internet gateways. Modern GDSes typically allow users to book hotel rooms and rental cars as well as airline tickets. They also provide access to railway reservations and bus reservations in some markets, although these are not always integrated with the main system.
The last thirty years mankind has experienced a tremendous evolution in the technological field. On our way to the 21st century people have achieved innumerous things and all are based on the technological evolution which is applied in every aspect of the life; Telecommunications are improved, people can contact between them literally from every point on earth. Also medicine have progressed a lot, businesses now are making transactions through computers and telephone lines while they keep huge records in a small computer etc.
Of course needless to say what impact had technological advance on the Travel and Tourism industry. Technology made travel easy and safe by creating jets, new ships as well as the advanced systems for higher safety on board. Besides that in hotels an individual can name infinite applications of technology from energy saving systems, security to communications and rooms management. Also the hotel can get closer to its potential customer much easier while reducing the cost.
Such methods are the Computerized Reservation Systems, which are going to be analyzed further at this research project. Also this project will try to make a history flashback, identify these computerized systems, describe their use, and record the advantages and disadvantages of each one. In addition it will be examined from the
